Our Week

On Tuesday George's sister Beth came down to visit and she stayed the night with us. We had such a great time visiting and Emma and I were sad to see her leave. She was such a big help to me! Since Emma loves to be held, she held her a good portion of the day and that gave me a much needed break to relax, pump, eat, and whatever else. She even woke up in the middle of the night for her feedings and changed several of her diapers! What a good sister-in-law! This was also the first time she has gotten to hold Emma so here are 2 pics...

She had planned on staying until George got off of work Wednesday but then he had to work late so she left around 5pm...well later George called and he had to work really late and didn't get home until 1 o'clock in the morning! I was kind of bummed but we managed. It gets so lonely being here by myself all day. We've also started sleeping on the couch with her and the other sleeps in the bed so at least one of us gets some sleep. Well I spent 2 nights on the couch and last night I went to bed at 7:30pm and woke up once to pump at 10:30 and then slept until 8:30 this morning! It felt so good to sleep in our bed again and not be interrupted. Poor George didn't get much sleep so he's been sleeping most of the day.

So in other news we totally deserve the bad parents of the week award! In case you don't know Emma has an apnea monitor and she has a belt to wear around her chest to monitor her breathing. The belt is held on by a piece of plastic velcro which is very rough. Well we gave her a bath on Sunday I think and put the belt back on and haven't thought anything else about it until yesterday when I'm changing her clothes. I happen to lift her right arm up and see some red and then I noticed her poor armpit has been sliced open! There was yellow gook coming out and apparently the velcro had been under her arm and had rubbed it! I immediately called the doctor's office b/c it looks like it is infected and we took her in in the afternoon. It is a really bad cut so they gave us an antibiotic and some prescription cream. They did culture it for a staff infection but it came back negative so that's great. They did weigh her while we were there and she is a whopping 5 lbs 7.4 oz!!! She is growing so fast! We ended up taking her back to the doctor today just to have another look and it is already getting better. They said she is doing awesome and they understood it was an accident. So now we go back in about 2 wks for her 4 month shots.

I also started weight watchers last Saturday to lose some of this flab and I'm really excited about it! I have more points than normal since I'm pumping but I should still lose weight. Tomorrow morning is my 1st weigh in and I can't wait to go. I will update on many pounds I've lost. My overall goal is 35 lbs by Labor Day. I have to say that I've done really good this week...now if only I can keep this up forever! Wish me luck!

There's not a whole lot going on other than the normal everyday stuff. Our friend Katie is having a cookout tomorrow night and we might try to take turns and go. We really need to see our friends. George also got me 2 tickets to see Dierks Bentley on June 16th! He is coming to Redstone Arsenal and that will be good for me to get out of the house. I'm really excited and I have to get my running shoes on b/c it's a race to get to the stage! Oh I also got to go to Nashville last Saturday to visit my friend Josh and a friend we used to work with at Rafferty's. Josh used to live in NYC and then moved to SC a couple of years ago and I havent' seen him since so that was really nice. Josh and I used to live together in college. He brought his girlfriend with him too. Well I guess this is all for now! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Beth looks so beautiful!

I wish I could be there to help you. I can't imagine how hard it is to remember all the unusal things you need to do for Emma.

Weight Watchers sounds like a good opportunity for you to get healthy and stay healthy. You can achieve your goal by Labor Day. I think the more one understands about nutrition the easier it becomes to maintain a healthy weight and to feel good. It is really interesting to know how food effects your well being and what minerals and vitamins one needs and how to get them. I did not know much about nutrition until I was pregant with Lizzie. I am not the best at nutrution, but since I have some knowledge I manage to stay in pretty good shape.

You, George and Emma are an awesome family. One day these long days and nights will be behind you and the three of you will be out and about and traveling to VA and TN and all around Huntsville!

Much love from Margaret
